Welcome to Lakeland Canoe Club.

We are friendly club based around Kendal in the Lake District, offering many paddling opportunities for our members.

These range from river trips  in the Lakes and Pennines and also local weekends for longer trips to Scotland, sea trips on the Cumbrian coast and weekends in the North East of England and Scotland and abroad.

Our club members co-ordinate and lead a range of trips for different abilities, including on sea, lakes and rivers in kayaks and canoes. We also run pool sessions.

In 2022/23 we had over 370 club events – something for everyone.

Typically we have river trips 3 or 4 a week in Cumbria or Pennines and visit Scotland and Wales for longer trips a few times a year. Occasionally we visit the Alps and other more exotic locations

We endeavour to run a midweek sea kayak session through the winter. You will find us onto Bore when it is spring tides. We paddle a lot on the estuarine around Morecambe Bay and organise weekend and week trips to other coastal areas in UK.

We run lots of in house safety training for sea and river paddlers. We organise evening social events, with quizzes guest speakers and competitions over the winter months.

We offer weekly pool sessions at Kendal Leisure Centre. These friendly and informal pool sessions will allow you to pick up or practice kayaking skills and meet like minded people. All kit is provided. We also play competitive polo matches. Some players play in regional and national leagues.
